After studying art at Hunter College and Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, Leslee Fetner worked in drawing and sculpture on and off for many years. In the early 1990’s she was introduced to the medium of watercolor and was instantly hooked. She works primarily in watercolor and also creates watercolor monotypes, a printmaking process. Recently, she has been exploring other mediums such as collage and pastel. Her work has been accepted into several juried shows, including the Silvermine Guild Arts Center’s 2003 National Print Exhibition in New Canaan, Connecticut, and three National League of American Penwomen shows at the Westin Alexandria Hotel in 2008 where she received a prize for one of her monotype works, at George Mason University Fine Arts Gallery in Arlington, Virginia in 2000 and at the University of Tampa Gallery, Florida, in 1998. She has participated in many group shows in New York and New Jersey including the Cork Gallery at Lincoln Center, the New York Open Center in Soho, the Old Church Cultural Arts Center, and the Art Center of Northern New Jersey, and has been the recipient of several awards. Her work has been exhibited in several solo shows including the Lobby Gallery of The Interchurch Center in New York City, the Atrium Gallery of the Bergen County JCC in Washington Township, NJ, the Waltuch Gallery at the JCC on the Palisades in Tenafly, NJ, and at the Englewood and Hillsdale Public Libraries in New Jersey. Ms. Fetner is a member of the National League of American Penwomen, Salute to Women in the Arts and Pascack Art Association, of which she served as president from 2002 to 2006.
